1. Everything you’ve tried pops the bubbles. Nothing has worked on the belt.

Line them up and they all do the same job. Smaller meals send less in. Chewing slower sends it in more politely. Cutting the carbonation removes bubbles you drank. Peppermint tea relaxes what is already tight. Bubble-popper pills pop the gas that already formed.
Every one of those acts on the gas — or the food it came from. Not one of them acts on the muscle whose job is to carry gas out.
That is why the relief never outlasted the evening it happened. It was never treating the thing that changed.
